Software Engineer, Programming Languages

We are looking for a 

to join our Move language team. You will be working on designing the new generation of the Move virtual machine (VM), ensuring it is both secure and performant. What you'll be doing:

1. Collaborate with other engineers to analyze, optimize, and re-design components of the Move VM to improve its performance and scalability.
2. Create benchmarks and identify performance bottlenecks of the Move VM.
3. Implement security measures to protect the Move VM from potential vulnerabilities.
4. Write clean, maintainable code and participate in reviews for other team members.

What we're looking for:

1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with background in compilers, performance optimization, concurrency or related fields. Graduates as well as experienced developers will be considered.
2. Proficiency in programming languages such as Rust, C++, or similar, with a strong understanding of systems programming. 
3. You have experience working with or are excited to learn about virtual machines, bytecode interpreters, code generation, memory management, parallel transaction execution and performance engineering.
4. Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to work autonomously. Being ready to take ownership of projects, and ensuring their end-to-end delivery.
5. Previous experience with blockchain systems and smart contracts is not necessarily needed, but is a plus.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $180k - $300k. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and typical maximum target for new hire salaries for the position of a candidate based in the Bay Area at any level. We do hire exceptionally talented professionals with decades of experience in their field. As such, our range may be higher than what is displayed. Our base salary ranges are determined by experience and location, and we hire at all levels for multiple roles. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location, job-related skills demonstrated during the interviews, working experience, and relevant education or training.
