About this role

The Modern Workplace Engineering team is responsible for delivering next-generation end-user computing platforms that encompass the design, engineering, and implementation of advanced endpoint management technologies and solutions across Windows, Mac, and Mobile platforms at BlackRock, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop seamless digital workplace solutions aligned with the firm's goals. The team is dedicated to innovating and excelling by automating tasks, developing software applications and tools, continuously improving the services and processes, and ensuring consistency across all devices, ultimately improving security, and enhancing employee productivity and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain software and automation that improves endpoint lifecycle management across Windows, VDI, and cloud PCs.

  • Build integrations and services using .NET and Microsoft Graph to orchestrate Intune, MECM/SCCM, Autopilot, Azure Virtual Desktop, and identity platforms.

  • Implement automation for OS deployment, updates, compliance, and remediation using PowerShell, Graph, and platform APIs (imageless and image-based workflows).

  • Develop secure, resilient REST APIs, background services, and event-driven jobs that scale globally and meet RTO/RPO and compliance requirements.

  • Use Copilot, Power Automate, and PowerApps to rapidly prototype and ship user-facing workflows, approvals, and self-service capabilities.

  • Apply GenAI responsibly to improve diagnostics, change impact analysis, and support content generation; build guardrails and telemetry for safe use.

  • Instrument code and platforms with logging, tracing, and endpoint analytics; build dashboards and alerts to drive SLO/SLA adherence and problem prevention.

  • Contribute to architecture and design of self-contained components; collaborate effectively on systems with complex dependencies.

  • Ship frequently and repeatably via CI/CD, trunk-based development, code reviews, unit/integration tests, and automated quality gates.

  • Map user journeys and operational context into product requirements; convert ambiguous needs into clear stories and technical tasks.

  • Navigate delivery risks and dependencies by proposing pragmatic technical options, prototyping quickly, and escalating when needed.

  • Partner with engineers across adjacent domains (identity, networking, security, virtualization) to solve end-to-end challenges.

  • Create clear technical documentation, runbooks, and API contracts consumable by engineers and support teams.

Qualifications:

  • 10-12 years of hands-on software engineering experience delivering production systems.

  • Strong .NET skills (C#), REST API development, and SQL Server.

  • Solid PowerShell experience for automation and diagnostics.

  • Practical experience with Intune, MECM/SCCM, Autopilot, co-management, and Azure Virtual Desktop.

  • Understanding of Windows OS deployment methods (Autopilot, in-place upgrade, task sequences), update rings, and compliance policies.

  • Experience with Microsoft Graph and Entra ID basics (app registrations, tokens, certificates).

  • Working knowledge of Azure services used for apps and automation (Functions, App Service, Storage, Key Vault, GitHub Actions/Azure Pipelines).

  • Experience using Copilot, Power Platform, or Generative AI to automate tasks or improve support.

  • Good testing habits and version control practices; able to ship changes safely and often.

  • Clear communicator who can turn user needs into simple, maintainable solutions.

  • Ability to multi-task and be creative and innovative in a multifaceted, fast-paced team environment.

  • Flexible to attend late night meetings regularly and work during US business hours as the need arises.
