The Role

As a Smart Contract Security Engineer, you won’t just audit code—you’ll shape the security model for billions of dollars of restaked ETH and safeguard the trust of an entire ecosystem. You’ll work at the intersection of cutting-edge research, high-stakes engineering, and adversarial thinking, building defenses for a protocol that is redefining how crypto infrastructure is shared and secured. This is a chance to tackle some of the hardest problems in blockchain security, collaborate with world-class researchers and engineers and if you thrive on high impact, high responsibility, and pushing the boundaries of what secure decentralized systems can be, EigenLayer is where you’ll want to be.

This is a full-time position that is fully remote or located with the largely Seattle-based team.

What You Will Do

1. Lead design and security reviews of complex staking, slashing, EigenPods and reward distribution contracts.
2. Build tooling, fuzzers, and formal verification pipelines to identify vulnerabilities before attackers do.
3. Collaborate directly with protocol researchers and core engineers to harden new features from inception.
4. Read, interpret, and refine formal verification specifications, making changes as needed to ensure they reflect protocol intent and capture critical security properties.
5. You will work closely with the product and leadership teams to set the on-chain strategy and roadmaps. This is a unique opportunity to build an entirely new paradigm of permissionless innovation, and create outsized impact on EigenLayer, and the Ethereum community.

What You Will Bring

1. Deep understanding of blockchain fundamentals, common vulnerabilities, and the EVM
2. Experience with developer tools for smart contract application developers (Hardhat, Foundry)
3. Passion for collaborating with other developers, security auditors, and stakeholders to ensure the quality and security of smart contracts
4. Strong testing skills and experience with testing frameworks for smart contracts
5. Experience with production deployments of non-trivial protocols, and associated security audits
6. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional and geographically remote teams, partners, and community members

The target salary range for this role is $220,000 - $260,000 USD. The listed range reflects compensation for candidates located in U.S. Tier 1 markets and may vary depending on your location. In addition to base salary, total compensation may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards.
