Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of professional software development experience, or 1 year with an advanced degree.
- 1 year of experience developing and launching products and technologies within software as a service or a related area.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field
- Experience in building distributed systems.
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly, as our services require integration across various technologies both within Google (Spanner, Pod, Piper/Google3) as well as externally available technologies (e.g. Git/Github).

As a a part of the Cloud and Open Ecosystems organization, we enable Google/Alphabet to operate in open development ecosystems like GitHub, while bridging to Google proprietary or hybrid technologies such as Google3 and Git-on-Borg. Our team develops Copybara, a workflow service that allows full source development life-cycle to operate between all of Alphabet’s supported repositories. This infrastructure is crucial for software development across Google’s most important products in AI (e.g, TensorFlow, JAX) and Cloud (e.g. Kubernetes), as well as Bets or large acquisitions (e.g. Waze, Looker) that must work between open development and Google ecosystems.The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Build infrastructure establishing well-lit pathways for source interoperability across Alphabet and create infrastructure for workflows that seamlessly span multiple repositories and various ecosystems.
- Establish critical security guardrails to ensure our services maintain the highest level of trust when moving source code throughout the Alphabet while collaborating with security engineers to introduce innovative security measures, such as deploying infrastructure in secure containerized environments.
- Integrate systems with broader Google infrastructure to accelerate development cycles by leveraging advanced workflow management systems that incorporate AI-driven responses to open source code imported into Google.
- Enhance the scalability of our infrastructure to support the next phase of growth by expanding our capabilities as more teams adopt various source systems due to evolving mandates and critical business priorities.
