Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with software development in C/C++/Python/Java/Kotlin/AngularJS or embedded systems.
  • Experience in the software development lifecycle, including analysis and design, APIs and development tools.
  • Experience in development, debugging and testing work in the Android systems.
  • Experience with Platform, or System on a chip (SoC) bringup.
  • Ability to work on system level problems and solving problems that cross Hardware/Software boundaries.

Google TV is redefining the TV experience to make it highly personalized, Google-smart, and content-forward to help users access the world’s media. Through recent launches like Chromecast with Google TV, we bring together the best of Google. Google TV is focused on scaling across the OEM ecosystem; working closely with third-party streaming partners plus many teams across Google (for example: Ads, Play, and YouTube); and building a business on TV platforms, OTT devices, and mobile devices. With millions of active users of our products plus being amidst the quickly evolving media and entertainment industry, there are plenty of opportunities for the team and individuals in it.

Responsibilities

  • Innovate, design, implement, and test new software features for TV embedded systems (streaming sticks, panel TVs and set top boxes). 
  • Build high quality Android TV, OS reference designs that provides the foundational hardware and software for TV OEMs to launch devices with quality at scale.
  • Bring up new prototype hardware systems. Work with unreleased TV OS and devices to bring a high performance Google TV experience to users.
  • Be an expert or acquire expertise in technologies for SoC vendors, contribute to the TV OS platform particularly in the areas of Kernel, Bootloader, security, HAL implementations and Android framework.
  • Advise and influence TV partners and vendors on solutions that benefit the TV ecosystem.
