Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with software development in C / C++.
- 2 years of experience working with Android domain, embedded processors or Linux kernel, drivers, BSP.
- Experience in code and system health, diagnosis and resolution, and software test engineering.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
- 5 years of experience working with Android domain, embedded processors, Linux kernel, drivers, Board Support Package (BSP).
- Knowledge of one or more of the following such as Microcontrollers, SoC, device drivers, hardware bringup, power management, ARM processors, file systems, bootloaders, firmware, or hardware/software integration.
- Experience in performance analysis and optimization, particularly in the embedded systems domain.
- Experience with Linux/Android/WearOS/low level silicon/hardware interactions.

As part of the First-Party System Software team, you will develop and optimize system software for the next-generation Pixel Watch devices. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and silicon vendors to deliver BSP, Kernel, and Storage solutions while supporting both next-generation and legacy products.
The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and support Pixel Watch system software engineering efficiency tools and automation, contributing to BSP/Kernel/Storage, new board/IP bring-up, thermal, and Haptics while working with silicon vendor teams.
- Solve unique problems to ensure products are worth launching by paying close attention to user journeys and experiences.
- Drive an extreme focus on power, performance and battery life to improve overall software quality and stability, gaining opportunities to work across the Android/Wear stack.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to propose and deliver new changes and features to WearOS/Android, enabling and enhancing features on Pixel Watches.
