Software Engineer III, Currencies & Emerging

We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for you to take your software engineering career to the next level. 

As a Python and AWS Software Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Investment Bank, Macro Data Analytics team, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

1. Develop business logic and data transformations in distributed frameworks to create curated datasets for specific business needs.
2. Take full ownership of the software delivery lifecycle, from requirement gathering to coding, testing, deployment, support, and ongoing maintenance.
3. Demonstrate self-motivation, ambition, and the ability to work independently while driving projects to successful completion.
4. Exhibit intellectual curiosity and a desire to understand trends and patterns in the data you work with.
5. Executes standard software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting.
6. Writes secure and high-quality code using the syntax of at least one programming language with limited guidance.
7. Designs, develops, codes, and troubleshoots with consideration of upstream and downstream systems and technical implications.
8. Applies technical troubleshooting to break down solutions and solve technical problems of basic complexity.
9. Gathers, analyzes, and draws conclusions from large, diverse data sets to identify problems and contribute to decision-making in service of secure, stable application development.
10. Learns and applies system processes, methodologies, and skills for the development of secure, stable code and systems. 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
2. Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience in software development, with a strong focus on data pipeline solutions
3. Strong experience in Python and Spark or equivalent such as Flink or Beam
4. Experience in AWS technologies, including AWS Glue, Kinesis, and Redshift - or similar from other cloud provider
5. Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for innovation
6. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams
7. Commitment to continuous learning and improvement
8. Proficient in relational databases and SQL

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

1. Understanding of data management (e.g., permissions, recovery, security, and monitoring)
2. Adapt to changing project requirements and technologies
3. Experience working in the FICC technology space
4. Prior experience in SecDB/Athena/Quartz
5. Experience in Cloud Certifications and prior Data Engineering 
6. Experience working in a Markets trading environment is highly desirable especially in the areas of Currencies, Rates, Emerging Markets, Commodities and Options
