As a Software Engineer on the System UI team, you will have the opportunity to engineer the core experiences and underlying systems of the Android OS. You'll handle technical tests in areas like seamless application launching, navigation, and personalization features, and the implementation of components like wallpapers, notifications, widgets and shortcuts. Your work will focus on delivering a fluid, intelligent, and adaptable UI, emphasizing technical quality, performance, and the overall user experience. Develop feature in core system applications, contributing to the Android Framework components that support them, and improve the developer experiences for applications developers that build for Android. You will work on the Android Launcher, the home screen and main entry point for users interacting with their phones.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate across key cross-functional areas to scope, design, and implement improvements to SystemUI and Android's Launcher.
  • Work across several engineering teams to help them integrate and understand the core API surfaces and improve their implementations.
  • Work with our developer relations and product team to improve our developer experiences for first and third party apps.
  • Advise external partners on integrating new Launcher features into their products.
