
Block is seeking Senior Litigation Counsel to join a team that’s responsible for the company’s most complex, high-profile litigation and regulatory enforcement matters. This role is ideal for a seasoned litigator who combines sharp strategic judgment with a pragmatic, business-oriented approach, and who thrives in a fast-moving yet highly collaborative environment.
You will play a key role in shaping litigation and enforcement strategy across a diverse portfolio of matters impacting Block’s ecosystem of products and services.
You Will

Lead strategy for significant litigation and regulatory enforcement matters from pre-litigation through resolution

Advise senior leadership on legal risk, enforcement trends, and business impact, particularly in areas affecting fintech, payments, and data use

Manage and partner closely with outside counsel to drive high-quality, efficient outcomes

Personally engage on critical aspects of matters, including legal strategy, discovery, and key filings

Handle complex disputes across areas such as class actions, commercial litigation, privacy, and consumer protection

Work exceptionally closely with other Counsel teams—including Policy, Product, Regulatory, and Corporate—to align on risk and strategy

Collaborate cross-functionally with teams such as Engineering, Compliance, and Risk to proactively identify and mitigate issues, consistent with business priorities
You Have

J.D. and active bar membership

10+ years of litigation experience at a leading law firm, government agency, or in-house
-
experience leading complex litigation and/or regulatory enforcement matters; bonus for deep securities litigation experience

Expertise in areas such as class actions, commercial disputes, privacy, and/or financial regulatory enforcement issues

Experience in litigation for a public company, including financial reporting, audit, and governance obligations

Strong judgment and the ability to translate legal risk into practical business guidance

Exceptional collaboration skills, with a track record of working effectively across legal disciplines and cross-functional teams

Excellent communication and advocacy skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels

AI-first perspective, with interest in building and leveraging AI-driven tools for litigation management, discovery, and related workflows.
Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
