Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience designing mechanical components such as plastic or metal parts, mechanical assemblies, printed circuit boards, or flexes.
  • Experience using computer-aided design (CAD) tools such as 3D MCAD, NX, Creo, or Solidworks.
  • Experience with Joint Design Manufacturer (JDM) model.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience in product/mechanical design and with consumer electronic products.
  • Ability to speak Mandarin to support stakeholders management in this region.

About the job

As a Product Design Engineer, you will work in a number of areas by visiting multiple sites including system/reliability failure analysis and subsystems/components Design for Manufacturing (DFM). You will work closely with our team based globally to realize and ship outstanding products.The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

Responsibilities

  • Complete failure analysis for manufacturing and reliability issues, brainstorming potential solutions.
  • Oversee suppliers of subsystems/components from concept to mass production.
  • Work both separately and as a team player in a globally distributed team. Demonstrated sense of ownership, detail oriented, and organized.
  • Participate in technical discussions in both English and Mandarin.
