Minimum qualifications:
-
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of experience with field-based work in data centers, huts and colocation facilities managed by third party vendors.
- Experience with detail engineering, bills of materials generation for networking equipment and network construction/implementation specification packages to be used by vendor and partner teams.
- Experience in telecommunications at carrier with experience with optical network infrastructure, transmission systems, layer 2/3 routers, and data services.
- Ability to communicate in Japanese fluently to support client relationship management in this region.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience directing Field Operation Technicians, Engineers, Contractors, or Vendors in a telecommunications working environment.
- Experience in collaborating across multiple levels and functions.
- Ability to engage and influence tactical and decision-making.
About the job
As a Network Implementation Engineer, you will be on the front lines of our efforts to design, deploy, and maintain one of the private data networks in the world. You will work with Network Architects, Capacity Management, Project Managers, and Engineers within Google to gather network requirements, deploy Google's private network, create and manage network implementation/integration plans, and create physical and logical network designs.
In this role, you will use your experience in networking, data centers, and co-location to establish and improve best practices and procedures. The objective is to build the reliable, cost-effective network to support Google users.

Responsibilities
- Manage oversight and Quality Assurance (QA) of installation technicians for rack, stack and installation of networking equipment.
- Test and commission routers, optical transport equipment, and other network devices in new and existing network nodes across Google's global network.
- Generate implementation plans and provide technical leadership and guidance during deployment activities.
- Work closely with project management, network engineering, and rest of the Engineering team to identify in advance potential problems in network installations, including in the areas of facility power (AC/DC), cooling, security/access, rack layout, and fiber management.
- Own network documentation, updating, and maintaining network drawings and plans.
