Our Fortune 500 retail client is seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Systems Engineer/System Administrator. This role requires a deep understanding of mainframe architecture and the ability to optimize and troubleshoot complex database systems. This person would be involved in security as they upgrade z/OS from version 2.4 to version 2.5, and eventually to version 3.1.

*Essential Duties and Responsibilities:*

· Install, configure, and maintain z\\OS operating systems and associated system program products on the enterprise server.

· Assist in z/OS upgrades.

· Administer and maintain RACF profiles, including user IDs, groups, and resource permissions.

· Implement and enforce security policies for z/OS environments using RACF.

· Perform access control management, ensuring appropriate user and system privileges.

· Monitor and analyze RACF logs and SMF records for security incidents and compliance.

· Configure and manage RACF Digital Certificates for secure authentication.

· Troubleshoot and resolve access control issues, including user lockouts and permission escalations.

· Collaborate with auditors to ensure compliance with security regulations and best practices.

· Configure and manage AT-TLS to enforce secure TLS encryption for network traffic.

· Design, installation, setup, and maintenance of SYSPLEX LPAR’s including Coupling facilities and policies.

· Provide operational and technical support of IBM zSeries Systems.

· Perform disaster recovery.

· Upgrade software running on the Mainframe.

· Install and maintain software using SMP/E.

· Create programs or scripts in a ZOS environment utilizing Assembler, REXX, OMVS scripting.

· Create and maintain security best practices by providing patch management and other security standards.

· Maintain storage management through DFSMS.

· Establish and maintain reporting metrics to identify trends.

*Required Experience: *

· 5+ years of experience as a ZOS/OMVS System Administrator

· Strong knowledge of DB2 functions

· Strong knowledge of IBM zSeries hardware

· Experience providing technical support for IBM DB2, IMS databases

· Strong knowledge of security management, ability to guide others on RACF techniques and administration

· Strong knowledge of RACF commands, profiles, user/group management, and resource classes

· Proficiency in defining, maintaining, and troubleshooting RACF permissions and access controls

· Knowledge of AT-TLS and its integration with RACF

· Experience/knowledge with: TSO, SDSF, ISPF, JCL, Z/OS, SMPE, MQSERIES, FTP, SFTP, RACF, UNIX on z/OS, DFHSM, DFSMS, DB2 and CICS

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $50.00 - $55.00 per hour
