Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced WordPress Website Developer with a strong background in custom WordPress development and LAMP stack technologies. This role also requires project management skills to oversee contractors who assist with website development and a strong focus on quality control to ensure that all websites meet high standards. Due to the high demand for development work and frequent updates, candidates should be prepared to handle a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects effectively. The ideal candidate will have expertise in PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, WordPress Gutenberg Full Site Editor, and WordPress performance optimization, while also ensuring contractors deliver high-quality work on time. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for conducting audits to ensure the overall quality, performance, and security of websites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, customize, and maintain WordPress websites using PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Gutenberg Full Site Editor.
- Build and optimize custom WordPress themes and plugins to meet project requirements.
- Implement speed optimizations, including caching, lazy loading, database queries, and CDN configurations.
- Conduct audits of websites for performance, security, and functional issues, ensuring compliance with best practices.
- Debug and troubleshoot WordPress performance, security, and compatibility issues.
- Optimize websites for SEO, accessibility, and mobile responsiveness.
- Work with hosting environments, including server configurations, domain management, and DNS settings.
- Ensure website security best practices, including SSL, firewalls, and malware protection.
- Manage and oversee external contractors, ensuring website projects are completed on time and to high-quality standards.
- Conduct thorough quality control checks to ensure websites meet functional, performance, security, and design standards.
- Review contractor code and implementations to ensure best practices and efficiency are followed.
- Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to contractors as needed.
- Collaborate with designers and project managers to create high-quality, user-friendly websites.
- Stay up to date with WordPress development trends, PHP updates, and JavaScript frameworks.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a WordPress Developer, specializing in custom theme and plugin development.
- Extensive experience with Gutenberg Full Site Editor.
- Strong proficiency in LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP).
- Expertise in PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and WordPress hooks/actions.
- Experience with performance optimization techniques such as caching, database optimization, and Core Web Vitals improvements.
- Experience working with hosting environments, DNS management, and server configurations.
- Knowledge of Git version control and best development practices.
- Ability to troubleshoot WordPress errors, security vulnerabilities, and plugin conflicts.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
- Experience managing and overseeing contractors/freelancers on web development projects.
- Proven ability to conduct quality control and audits on websites and ensure high standards of functionality, performance, and design.
- Ability to review and approve contractor work, provide feedback, and ensure project deadlines are met.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a fast-paced, remote setting.
- Ability to manage high-demand work and multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining quality standards.
- Must be available to work on Eastern Standard Time (ET).
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):
- Experience with Headless WordPress and REST API integrations.
- Familiarity with Cloudflare, AWS, or DigitalOcean for hosting and security.
- Understanding of SEO best practices for WordPress development.
- Familiarity with modern front-end frameworks and tools (React, Vue, Webpack, Tailwind CSS).
