Nebraska Life Magazine celebrates the people, places, history, and culture of Nebraska through rich storytelling and stunning photography. We’re expanding our network of freelance writers and photographers to help us bring even more engaging stories to our readers.

Who We’re Looking For

We seek talented writers, photographers, or individuals who do both to contribute to our magazine. Our content covers a range of topics, including:

• Travel & Adventure – Exploring Nebraska’s hidden gems, road trips, and outdoor activities.
• Nature & Wildlife – Capturing Nebraska’s diverse landscapes, seasons, and ecosystems.
• History & Culture – Uncovering the past, traditions, and historical figures that shaped Nebraska.
• Food & Drink – Spotlighting local cuisine, restaurants, and culinary traditions.
• People Profiles – Sharing compelling human-interest stories.
• Arts & Communities – Showcasing Nebraska’s creative and cultural scene.

Writers

We prefer narrative journalism—storytelling that goes beyond facts to engage readers with strong characters, vivid scenes, and a sense of place. Writers should have deep knowledge of Nebraska, either as a resident or a frequent traveler, and the ability to craft stories with an insider’s perspective.

Photographers

We look for photographers who don’t just take pictures but tell stories with their images. Whether it’s a landscape, a portrait, or a moment of action, we want photos that capture the essence of Nebraska. Strong composition, lighting, and storytelling through visuals are key.

Compensation & Process

• Writers are paid per published word.
• Photographers are paid per published photo.
• We assign stories but also welcome your original story ideas.
