Freelance Public Relations / Public Affairs Consultant at Bader Rutter

Bader Rutter is seeking an experience agriculture PR professional with deep public affairs experience to support a top client on a freelance basis. You’ll bring your deep experience in livestock policy issues to help support one of our leading clients. You’ll help lead forward-thinking strategic counsel, including work in reputation management, issues management/crisis management, plan development, content strategy, social media strategy, event execution, real-time media relations, activation planning and more.

Your strategic communication experience includes generating content with a focus on strong writing and editing. In this role you’ll write anything from news releases, pitches and ghost articles to collateral and newsletters. You’ll also respond to media inquiries and develop crisis communication plans.

Hours/Location:

This is a freelance position (20-25 hours a week). Ideal candidates could be on-site in our Milwaukee or Chicago office for occasional team or client meetings.

The ideal person for this:

• Has PR experience in public affairs/government affairs and understands advocacy audiences
• Is incredibly knowledgeable on livestock policy issues
• Has five to seven years of agency experience and a background in journalism, marketing or communications
• Possesses critical thinking skills, a strategic mind and the drive to deliver great results
• Thrives on building national buzz and has experience with media relations and media monitoring tools
• Can build relationships with a team, clients and media contacts
• Loves to partner with the creative team and has a passion for turning big ideas into reality
• Bonus points for a Midwest location but this will be a remote contract
