Role Description:
Mabaya Group is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Freelance Editor to refine and enhance written content across various formats, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and consistency. The ideal candidate has a strong command of grammar, structure, and style and can work efficiently under deadlines.
This is a remote contract role, but candidates must be based in San Francisco, California, United States, and authorized to work in the U.S.
Responsibilities:
- Edit and proofread articles, reports, and digital content for grammar, style, and clarity.
- Ensure accuracy, coherence, and readability across various types of written content.
- Maintain brand voice, tone, and consistency in writing style.
- Collaborate with writers and content creators to enhance storytelling and engagement.
- Conduct fact-checking and verify sources to maintain content credibility.
- Implement SEO best practices for digital content where applicable.
- Manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high editorial standards.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in editing, proofreading, or content development.
- Strong knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and style guides (e.g., AP, Chicago, MLA).
- Ability to edit for clarity, structure, and tone while maintaining author's voice.
- Excellent time management and attention to detail.
- Candidates must be based in San Francisco, California, or authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with SEO principles and digital content editing.
- Experience with content management systems (CMS) like WordPress.
- Ability to edit technical, business, or creative content.
- Strong collaboration skills to work with writers and other content professionals.
Compensation & Job Type:
- Freelance, Contract (Paid) – Compensation is project-based or hourly, depending on experience and workload.
