Learn.org is committed to being a trusted resource for individuals seeking affordable and accessible higher education. Whether it's a professional returning to school to advance their career or a new student pursuing a degree later in life, our platform serves as a reliable guide for all aspects of their educational journey, both online and in-person.

We are seeking skilled and driven freelance content writers to join our team. This role focuses on creating high-quality, original blog content related to higher education, including topics such as financial aid, online degree programs, and career insights.

Our content is crafted with the reader in mind — engaging, user-focused, and easy to understand. We are looking for writers who can deliver content that is both authoritative and personable, striking a balance between informative and action-oriented.

The ideal candidate will have a background in content marketing writing — bonus points if you’ve written in the higher education space. Given our structured publishing schedule and goal-driven environment, candidates must be adept at producing high-quality work within tight deadlines, have meticulous attention to detail, and follow guidelines precisely.

We seek writers who are comfortable conducting their own research and writing a high-quality first draft that has been fact-checked and proofread before it hits the editing stage. Most articles range from 1,100 to 1,300 words and take writers between two to three hours to research and write.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research, write, and fact-check two to five articles weekly. More work may be available depending on the project.
  • Follow a pre-written outline and optimize articles using Clearscope to incorporate keywords naturally.
  • Collaborate with content managers and editors to ensure content accuracy and quality.
  • Adhere to project deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality. Articles are expected back within 24 hours of beginning the assignment.
  • Engage in constructive feedback processes to continually refine content.

Qualifications

Required:

  • At least 1 year of professional writing experience.
  • A strong willingness to learn and adapt to SEO best practices.
  • Full proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to accept and incorporate constructive criticism. Must be receptive to feedback and follow instructions well.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines consistently.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, marketing, business, communications, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience in writing for digital platforms, particularly with a focus on digestible and engaging content.
  • Prior experience working remotely.
  • Familiarity with the higher education sector.

Compensation

This is a per-piece paid position. Most articles are paid at a rate of $50 an article. Certain projects may be paid at a higher rate, depending on the word count.

Application Process

To apply, please complete the following steps:

  • Submit your resume.
  • Include a cover letter explaining why you are an ideal candidate for this role.
  • Provide three links to your previous work or an online portfolio showcasing your SEO content writing (if applicable). If you lack SEO experience, please provide relevant writing samples.
  • Answer the application screening questions provided.
