Account Manager- Employee Benefits Department Salaried / Exempt
Reports to: Director of Employee Benefits Services
Summary/Objective
Account Managers provide a high, professional standard of service to Clark Insurance customers in their overall management of an assigned book of accounts. They consistently initiate contact with existing customers, identify needs and recommend appropriate coverages and products. In addition, the Account Managers work as a team with an assigned Account Executive to write new accounts, retain accounts and grow the book of business.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for the servicing of assigned accounts with an Account Executive, utilizing discretion and independent judgment to craft solutions to be shared with customer and Account Executive
- Responsible for all customer communications, conflict resolution, and compliance. Ensure that all customer issues are dealt with in an efficient and effective manner, informing the Department Director of any issues that arise.
- Receive, process and document all insuredβs request for service and incoming mail
- Provide prompt, efficient, and courteous service and communication to prospective customers, existing customers, agency personnel and insurance company personnel
- Have knowledge of all products within department- Group, Life, Ancillary and Individual
- Perform customer calls/ enrollment meetings with the Account Executive as necessary for new or renewal business.
- Manage the retention goals of the assigned book of business with the Account Executive.
- Responsible for all customer communications, conflict resolution, and compliance.
- Complete and review all major documents (i.e. New Business Proposals, Renewal Summary, Renewal Proposals, etc) to ensure quality standards and customer expectations are met.
- Along with the Account Executive, negotiate rates with the insurance companies
- Work as a Claim Advocate for groups.
- Be aware of and in pursuit of opportunities for account growth and new business.
- Communicate the customer's goals and represent the customer's interests to the Account Executive and team.
- Understand all companiesβ capabilities and services, and effectively communicate all offerings to customers
- Meet with the Account Executive and Department Director on a monthly basis, providing regular input on all account activity, including status reports
- Provide quotations on new business, renewal business and any policy changes on existing policies, including the preparation of proposal forms when appropriate.
- Assist in resolving underwriting problems which arise between the agency and insurance companies
- Responsible for customer setup of of Zywave and HRConnection
- Follow all systems, procedures and regulations set forth by both the agency and insurance companies.
- Be familiar with and adhere to the departmentβs procedure manual .
- Perform special request and projects at the directorβs request

Preferred Experience, Education and Licensing
- 3-5 years of insurance service experience
- Extremely detail oriented
- Technical competence (understand software, hardware, networks, etc)
- Motivated, goal oriented, persistent and a skilled negotiator
- High level of initiative and work well in a team environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Handles stressful situations and deadline pressures well
- Plans and carries out responsibilities with minimal direction
- Undergraduate degree or combination of industry education and experience
- Life & Health License
- Has completed Employee Benefits coursework and is actively pursuing a designation
Position Type
This is a full-time position.
Travel
Occasional travel to customerβs workplace with the Account Executive; education events; company meetings
