Director, Communications and Content

The Director of Communications and Content is a strong writer and storyteller, savvy media strategist, analytical and data-driven thinker, and motivating people and agency manager.

In this role, you’ll:

1. Lead, coach, and develop a small in-house team of global PR and social media specialists, writers, and agency teams globally
2. Act as “Editor in Chief” of the company blog, maintaining a high bar for editorial quality for posts ranging from original research to SEO content to company, partner, customer, and product announcements
3. Manage major thought leadership media campaigns, many smaller projects, and inbound media requests
4. Work closely with senior executives to enhance their public profiles
5. Collaborate with leaders in marketing and product to launch new products and services
6. Develop close relationships with key business, finance, policy, and tech journalists at major publications in the mainstream media and cryptocurrency-specific news outlets and secure top-tier coverage
7. Leverage opportunities with the media around breaking news related to cryptocurrency regulation, market news, and/or criminal activity
8. Systematically test new channels to reach audiences who don’t know us yet
9. Train and maintain a bench of expert spokespeople
10. Manage communications workflows in the event of a crisis
11. Partner with internal communications to share company news and motivate employees

We’re looking for candidates who have:

1. A degree in journalism, the liberal arts, or another writing intensive program and 12+ years of relevant experience
2. 4+ years of experience in a people leadership role
3. Directly managed PR agencies, ideally on a global or international scale
4. Designed and run data & content-first media campaigns
5. Experienced in a fast-paced environment and comfortable seizing unexpected opportunities and managing change
6. Built relationships with top-tier media outlets, and regularly worked with reporters and influencers

Nice to have experience:

1. Managed multidisciplinary teams
2. Understanding of cryptocurrency technology and ecosystem
3. Experience in policy and/or crisis communication
4. Experience working with both public and private sector customer base
5. Understanding of cybercriminal activities
