Location: RemoteHiring Range: This position’s hiring range is anticipated to be $75,000 to $85,000 annually, depending on experience, plus great benefits!This is a full-time, temporary role that is expected to have a completion date of May 31, 2027.Position Summary: The Event Marketing Strategist is responsible for developing and executing audience-first, conversion-focused marketing strategies and activations that support key B2B, B2C, and donor-facing initiatives at Best Friends. This role is focused on driving awareness, excitement, and attendance for priority events and campaigns by identifying target audiences, developing the positioning and messaging for events that resonate with each audience, and activating the most effective channels to reach and motivate them. This is highly collaborative role centered on strategic planning, execution, and hands-on tactical marketing. The Event Marketing Strategist works to increase cohesion, alignment, and overall impact across Best Friends events. The role reports to the Associate Director, National Marketing, and partners closely with the Brand and Events teams, as well as cross-functional stakeholders. In addition, this position will provide short-term coverage and support for DXC-related initiatives as needed, helping to ensure continuity in creative oversight, PR and marketing strategies, and corporate partnership support during peak periods or project-based needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Treat people around you as our most valuable resource by leading with Kindness and Compassion in all your actions, build trust by demonstrating authenticity and following through on your commitments, encourage self-care and work-life balance through your own example, and work to build strong relationships with your team by creating communication loops to share and receive honest feedback. You are responsible and accountable for the culture of your team. Develop and implement audience-driven event marketing strategies to meet organizational objectives; manage details, budgets and timelines to deliver high-quality marketing campaigns for events that include National Conference (B2B) and marquee fundraising events, including Best Friends Benefit to Save Them All.Lead cross-functional collaboration with digital and copy teams to shape content strategy for event landing pages and email campaigns, guiding copywriters on tone, urgency, audience framing, calls to action and overall strategic direction.Partner with Brand team to lead end-to-end strategy and execution for events with plans that span design, marketing materials across all channels, and performance measurement.Utilize social media and digital platforms to promote events and create engaging, motivating content to drive awareness and attendance.Analyze the success of each event and prepare reports on key outcomes and recommendations for optimization and future improvements.Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in event marketing and promotion, audience engagement and lifecycle marketing.Build and maintain relationships with partners, sponsors, and other stakeholders.Ensure all events comply with relevant regulations and legal requirements.  Skills and Experience: Bachelor's or master's degree in marketing, Communications, Public Relations, related field, or equivalent work experience.Minimum of 7 years of experience in marketing, both B2B and B2C experience required, with a strong background in event marketing and strategy development.Demonstrated success in marketing national and local events for B2B and B2C brands, with a preference for experience in non-profits and/or animal welfare or related fields.Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.Deep understanding of digital marketing tools and platforms, including social media, email marketing, and content management systems.Ability to think creatively and innovatively, with a knack for storytelling, data collection, experience design and engaging diverse audiences. Passion for animal welfare and a commitment to promoting the mission of our organization.Physical Requirements: Ability to travel as required, anticipated up to 30%.Ability to travel, including overnight stays, when needed and the ability to travel via various forms of transportation.  Work at a computer for extended periods of time with repetitive typing, sitting, arm, and hand motion.Must have a valid driver's license for at least 3 years, ability to qualify to be added to Best Friends insurance.Flexibility to work odd days and hours as needed for events and promotions.
