We have also seen the incredible benefits of using AI technology to shorten feedback loops and help students revise their work before they submit.Packback is a pedagogy partner that uses technology as a “means to an end” to shorten feedback loops for students and instructors, improve writing and critical thinking skills, and cultivate student-centered, trust-based educational learning environments.About the roleWe’re looking for a Senior Director of Marketing to lead our marketing function—owning narrative, content, and product marketing—while guiding a high-performing team responsible for demand generation and marketing operations.This is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping how Packback shows up in the market. You will own positioning, messaging, content strategy, and go-to-market execution, while managing a lean team that drives pipeline generation and marketing performance.You’ll operate as both a strategic leader and a hands-on contributor—developing core narratives, building content engines, and ensuring our marketing efforts translate into measurable growth.What you'll ownMarketing Strategy & Pipeline OversightOwn overall marketing strategy and performance across the funnelSet direction for demand generation programs while empowering team members to executeEnsure alignment between messaging, campaigns, and target audiencesPartner with Sales and RevOps to align on ICP, funnel stages, and pipeline performance Product Marketing & Positioning (Core Focus)Own Packback’s narrative in the market, especially around AI in higher educationDefine and evolve positioning, messaging, and differentiation across products and audiencesPartner with Product and Sales to bring new features and solutions to marketEnsure messaging is grounded in real customer outcomes (engagement, retention, AI literacy)Content and Thought LeadershipBuild and scale Packback’s content engine across formats (eBooks, webinars, research, blog, events)Establish Packback as a category leader in Instructional AIDevelop compelling, insight-driven content that drives awareness and supports conversionAmplify executive and customer voices to build credibility in the marketCustomer Marketing & ProofLead development of customer stories, testimonials, and case studiesPartner with Customer Success and Sales to capture and package outcomesTurn customer insights into high-impact marketing and sales assetsTeam Leadership & ExecutionManage and develop two direct reports:Demand Generation & Marketing OperationsProvide strategic direction while maintaining high standards for execution and accountabilityCoach team members to improve performance across campaigns, systems, and reportingStep in as a hands-on contributor when needed across messaging, campaigns, and launchesWhat Success Looks LikeClear, differentiated positioning in the marketA consistent and scalable content engine that drives awareness and engagementStrong alignment between product, marketing, and sales narrativesHigh-quality pipeline driven by effective messaging and campaignsA high-performing, accountable marketing team with clear ownership and resultsWhy This Role Matters This role defines how Packback shows up in the market at a critical moment for AI in education. You will shape the narrative, build the content engine, and lead the team that translates that story into growth.If you’re excited about building a category, telling a compelling story, and leading a team that turns that story into real impact, this is the role.What We're Looking ForExperience8–12+ years in B2B SaaS marketing, with experience across product marketing and content strategyFamiliarity with CRM and marketing automation tools (Salesforce, HubSpot)Proven ability to define positioning and bring products to market effectivelyExperience building or evolving a brand and positioning within an emerging or competitive categoryExperience leveraging customer insights and voice-of-customer data to inform messaging, positioning, and contentExperience hiring, developing, and managing high-performing marketing teamsExperience leading or overseeing demand generation and pipeline performanceBackground in EdTech, higher education, or mission-driven SaaS is a strong plusSkills & MindsetStrong product marketing instincts with the ability to translate complexity into clear valueExperience building and scaling content and thought leadership programsHands-on approach: comfortable writing, shaping messaging, and guiding executionAnalytical enough to understand funnel performance and connect marketing to revenueStrong cross-functional collaborator across Product, Sales, RevOps, and Customer SuccessLeadershipExperience managing small, high-performing teamsAbility to set direction while staying close to the workComfortable leading through influence and driving alignment across functionsAdditional Information:Sponsorship: Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S without the need for sponsorship.
