Principal Software Product ManagerDescription -We are looking for a seasoned Principal Software Product Manager to shape and lead the next generation of HP’s consumer notebook software experiences.In this role, you will operate at both strategic altitude and execution depth—defining long-term product direction while driving complex, cross-organizational initiatives from concept through launch. You will partner closely with engineering, design, commercial, platform, and executive stakeholders to deliver differentiated, customer-facing software at global scale.This role is ideal for a product leader who thrives in ambiguity, brings strong technical and business fluency, and is excited to influence how software, hardware, and services come together across HP’s consumer portfolio.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn and drive the end-to-end lifecycle of major software initiatives, from early discovery and framing through delivery, launch, and iterationDefine and evangelize a compelling product vision that aligns customer needs, platform strategy, and HP’s long-term business objectivesIdentify and translate emerging technologies, platforms, and business models into scalable product opportunitiesLead deep market, customer, and ecosystem analysis to inform product strategy and investment decisionsPartner with engineering and architecture leaders to make principled technical tradeoffs that balance velocity, quality, and long-term platform healthOrchestrate execution across highly matrixed teams (engineering, UX, commercial, marketing, partnerships, legal, and operations)Serve as a senior product voice in roadmap reviews, executive forums, and cross-division planningLeverage quantitative insights and qualitative feedback to continuously refine product direction and measure successEngage directly with customers, partners, and internal teams to surface insights, validate strategy, and influence outcomesMentor and guide other product managers, helping raise the overall product bar across the organizationRequired QualificationsBachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field10+ years of experience in software product management or closely related rolesDemonstrated success delivering large-scale, customer-facing software productsExperience operating in complex, global, cross-functional environmentsMust-Have ExperienceLed multiple 0-to-1 and 1-to-N initiatives with clear customer and business impactDefined and executed product strategy across platform-level or portfolio-level surfacesPartnered deeply with engineering teams on architecture, systems design, and technical decision-makingApplied strong analytical thinking to product decisions, tradeoffs, and prioritizationInfluenced senior leadership through clear storytelling, data, and structured thinkingDemonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, competing priorities, and organizational complexityProven effectiveness in resource-constrained or fast-moving environmentsTools & SkillsAgile MethodologyChange ManagementContinuous ImprovementJIRAKanban PrinciplesLean Product DevelopmentMilestone-based PlanningNew Product IntroductionProduct Strategy & RoadmappingScrum & Sprint PlanningImpact & ScopeImpacts multiple functions and leads large, cross-division initiatives that influence HP’s long-term consumer software strategy.ComplexityWorks on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors.DisclaimerThis job description describes the general nature and level of work performed in this role.
