Indirect Tax Manager

Entain
Full-time
On-site
Nottingham, England, United Kingdom

Company Description

Entain’s tax team is responsible for managing over £1.5bn in annual tax payments across more than 20 countries. We’re not just a FTSE 100 business: in the UK alone, we’re a Top 20 taxpayer and taxes account for a significant proportion of the group’s cost base. Tax is a prominent function within the business and puts itself at the heart of everything we do.

As an Indirect Tax Manager at Entain you’ll be at the forefront of helping us to manage both existing tax obligations as well as emerging obligations in the fast-developing and leading-edge world of the taxation of digital services all over the world.

You’ll be working closely with people from across the business and around the world – from accountants to lawyers to marketing specialists and technology experts in the UK, Gibraltar, Malta, India and elsewhere. Understanding the business is critical to helping shape current and future plans for market growth and expansion.

You’ll need to stay abreast of international developments in VAT, GST, and gambling taxes, including the evolving areas of taxation of digital businesses, taxation of electronically supplied services, and point-of-consumption taxes. You’ll need to stay close to the business to ensure the tax strategy and commercial strategy continually align.

Job Description

What you'll do:

Work collaboratively within the Indirect Tax team and with key decision makers to design, develop, promote and deliver a robust indirect tax strategy across the group.

Act as a trusted business partner: assisting accounting, procurement, legal, commercial, regulatory and other colleagues in understanding the VAT, GST and gambling tax considerations of their work and the impact on the wider business.

Work closely with other members of the broader tax team on a range of special projects which require indirect tax expertise, such as M&A, corporate restructuring, dispute resolution, indirect tax analysis of new products and addressing the indirect tax consequences of entry into new markets.

Review VAT, GST and gambling tax returns for a variety of jurisdictions prepared by Indirect Tax Advisers and other finance colleagues, to ensure quality control, reduce the risk of incorrect filings, and help the business comply with its international indirect tax obligations.

Manage relationships with external advisers around the world, such as Big 4 accounting firms and law firms, to ensure the business obtains relevant and useful advice on complex and contentious issues within the available budget.

Provide specialist input to governance and risk management processes (such as Senior Accounting Officer in the UK) and tax authority audits.

Identify and implement opportunities to streamline and create more scalable indirect tax return processes to improve the efficiency of the indirect tax team and to comply with new data handling, retention and filing obligations (such as the “Making Tax Digital” requirements in the UK).

Maintain a current knowledge of indirect tax developments and proactively disseminate the impact of proposed changes to relevant stakeholders.  Model the tax impact of proposed legislative changes to enable a proposition to implement mitigating solutions compliant with the Group Tax Strategy.
