Column Five is a B2B marketing agency that specializes in brand and content marketing for SaaS companies.We're hiring a freelance copy editor to work with us on project-based marketing copy, typically 5- 40 hours per project. Our editors work directly with C5's internal team and sometimes work directly with our clients.JOB REQUIREMENTS FOR COPY EDITORS4+ years of professional copy editing experience in B2B tech, SaaS, or developer-focused content with some writing experienceProficiency in enforcing brand style guides for consistency across all contentPortfolio demonstrating ability to edit and refine complex technical content into clear, compelling copyStrong research abilities and thorough fact-checking skillsExceptional attention to detail with the ability to spot minute errors and inconsistenciesExperience editing both short-form and long-form content across various marketing materialsAble to self-manage your projects and thrive in an autonomous work environmentComfort working in Google Docs (tracking changes) and making edits directly in Figma or CRMStrong client-facing communication skills, as this role will often interface directly with the client teamWilling and able to work in contiguous US time zones for meetings and syncsRESPONSIBILITIES Copy edit short- and long-form content for client website, collateral, and marketing campaignsPolish and refine existing copy to translate complex tech concepts into compelling, motivating contentWork with the creative team through regular copy/design critiques and feedback sessionsEdit and repurpose messaging for corporate marketing deliverables, ensuring brand guideline complianceEdit content for executive, legal, and marketing audiences with a focus on accuracy, clarity, and credibilityPreserve technical nuance while improving readability and logical flow for target audiencesManage editing projects while maintaining precision and attention to detail in fast-moving environments with busy team membersStay organized and track comments/feedback across stakeholdersServe as the point of contact for copy deliverablesAttend meetings for project kick-offs, feedback gathering, and style guide updatesCommunicate project updates and collaborate via Slack and PM or CRM toolsJOB PERKSCompetitive flat-rate pay commensurate with experienceA fun, engaged, and inclusive teamRemote-first company in USACOMPENSATIONCompensation is dependent upon experience. The hourly breakdown on a flat-rate project will vary project to project within a range $50-$85/hourLOCATIONWe are a distributed- or remote-first company.
