As Director, Consumer Marketing and Corporate Communications at Huna Totem, you will be the connective tissue across our direct-to-consumer businesses, our government contracting arm, and our internal and shareholder communications. You will move between external-facing brand work and internal storytelling, often in the same week, and you will build the systems that keep all of it consistent.You bring genuine range. You are as comfortable pitching media on Icy Strait Point as you are writing a shareholder update or briefing HunaTek leadership on a communications plan. You build trust fast, across very different teams, and you bring order to work that could easily feel scattered in less capable hands.WHAT YOU'LL DOConsumer Brand Marketing & Public Relations (HTA, ISA & Portage Glacier Cruises)Serve as the Marketing, Communications, and Public Relations lead for Hoonah Travel Adventures, Icy Strait Adventures, Portage Glacier Cruises, and any additional direct-to-consumer businessesDevelop marketing and communication plans, materials, and messaging tailored to each business's audience and goalsManage media relations and press opportunities for each consumer businessPartner with leadership across these business lines to ensure consistent brand voice and effective promotionDrive leads and bookings through targeted marketing campaigns and initiativesHunaTek Marketing & CommunicationsOversee HunaTek's Marketing and Communications efforts, working closely with leadership to identify opportunities that communicate the company's value and capabilitiesDevelop and execute marketing materials, communications, and messaging tailored to the government contracting spaceManage public relations and media opportunities relevant to government contractingPartner closely with HunaTek leadership to translate business priorities into effective communications and marketing initiativesInternal & Shareholder CommunicationsDevelop internal and shareholder communication plans that keep employees and shareholders informed, engaged, and connected to company news and cultureLead shareholder communications, partnering with the Shareholder Relations team on themes and contentOwn the company's annual report and monthly newsletter, from content planning through final productionPlan and execute company Town Halls and events, including messaging, materials, and logisticsWHO YOU AREYou are the kind of communicator who can write a press release in the morning and a shareholder letter in the afternoon, without either one sounding like it came from the wrong playbook.A strong writer and editor, able to adapt tone across employees, shareholders, customers, government stakeholders, and mediaCollaborative and relationship-driven, with a track record of building trust across diverse teams and business unitsA self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity and energized by a fluid, fast-moving environmentProcess-minded and detail-oriented, able to run multiple projects across different business lines at onceGenuinely curious about tourism, hospitality, or destination marketingQUALIFICATIONSEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field preferred10+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related field, ideally spanning both internal and external workExperience managing media relations or public relationsExperience in or willingness to learn the government contracting communications landscapeAlaska Native Corporation, tribal, or Indigenous-owned business experience is a plusWORK ENVIRONMENTThis is a fully remote position with travel required, including media fam trips and other business events.
