Communication & PR Marketing Intern

The Communications & PR Marketing Intern supports our marketing and communications team. This role offers hands-on experience in public relations, corporate communications, and brand storytelling. The intern will assist with media outreach, content development, and internal/external communications efforts while gaining exposure to strategic messaging and reputation management.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in drafting press releases, media pitches, and public-facing communicationsSupport media outreach efforts, including building and maintaining media listsMonitor media coverage and compile regular press and sentiment reportsHelp develop content for blogs, newsletters, social media, and company announcementsSupport internal communications, including employee updates and leadership messagingConduct research on industry trends, competitors, and media opportunitiesAssist in planning and executing PR campaigns, events, and announcementsEnsure brand voice and messaging consistency across all communicationsQualificationsCurrently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related fieldStrong writing, editing, and proofreading skillsExcellent verbal communication and interpersonal skillsHighly organized with strong attention to detailAbility to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlinesFamiliarity with social media platforms and digital communication channelsPreferred QualificationsExperience writing for a school publication, blog, or internshipBasic understanding of media relations and PR strategiesFamiliarity with media monitoring tools or databasesExperience with content management systems or email marketing platformsWhat You’ll GainHands-on experience in public relations and corporate communicationsExposure to media relations, brand strategy, and crisis communications fundamentalsOpportunity to build a professional writing portfolioMentorship and collaboration with experienced marketing and communications professionalsAbout Smart CareSmart Care is a national repair and service provider for commercial foodservice, refrigeration, and cold storage equipment.
