The Center for Victims of Torture is hiring a Business Development & Marketing Specialist to drive growth for CVT’s Trauma-Informed Advisory Service, and exciting earned-income initiative that brings CVT’s expertise to organizations while supporting our human rights mission. This is a hands-on, entrepreneurial role for someone who thrives at the intersection of mission-driven work and business development. You’ll build the client pipeline from the ground up, from prospecting and marketing campaigns to proposals and closing deals, and collaborate closely with program experts to position CVT as a leading provider of trauma-informed organizational transformation. This role also supports broader Advancement efforts including corporate partnerships and workplace giving. Position open to: Candidates located in the U.S. who are authorized to work in U.S. and will not need CVT to sponsor them on a work visa. Remote status: Position is fully remote. Responsibilities: Sales: Lead sales and growth efforts for the Trauma-Informed Advisory Service, a fee-for-service initiative to deliver training and consulting to businesses. Collaborate with Head of Growth & Engagement to develop and implement a plan for prospecting, outreach, proposals, and closing agreements; Design client-facing materials and presentations; Create and manage lead generation campaigns; Develop supporting marketing efforts including e-marketing, automations, and digital advertising. Collaborate with program and training staff to align client proposals with client needs and CVT constraints. Database Management: Manage the customer relationship management (CRM) database for the Trauma-Informed Advisory Service, including maintaining accurate records and providing regular reporting. In collaboration with Finance, monitor fee-for-service revenue. Relationship building and development: Oversee corporate sponsorship cultivation and workplace giving efforts. Serve as primary liaison with Global Giving to ensure CVT’s participation in federal, state, local, and corporate campaigns. In collaboration with the Development Team, lead the solicitation and cultivation processes for corporate sponsorships of events and projects. Regularly prospect and network for new corporate relationships, and advise Advancement Team leadership on ways to increase corporate engagement with the organization. Represent CVT at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities. Collaborate with Advancement staff on CVT-wide promotion of business offerings. Maintain website and other digital presences. Qualifications: Required education, experience, certificates, licenses or registrations Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience 3-5 years’ experience in sales, business development, and/or B2B marketing, with a preference for experience marketing trainings or services Preferred education, experience, certificates, licenses or registrations Experience working with or within nonprofit organizations preferred. Competencies (knowledge, skills and abilities) Competency in managing Customer Relationship Management databases Demonstrated success in bringing on new clients and closing deals Strong skills in relationship management and persuasive communication Ability to manage and prioritize competing tasks Highly organized, self-directed, and able to manage multiple priorities in a mission-driven setting. Familiarity with managing a budget and ability to balance both mission and revenue goals Experience with basic graphic design and layout software (or a willingness to learn) to create materials for clients and leads that are on-brand and persuasive Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills Ability to develop and maintain professional, collaborative relationships Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally Commitment to engaging in human rights work Excellent skills in organization, attention to detail and time management (including the ability to meet deadlines) Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word and Excel) Work Environment (subject to change): Typical office environment Time spent on the computer is approximately 95% Time spent in virtual meetings is approximately 30% Hiring Timeline: Most CVT hiring processes for US-based positions take about 8 weeks from when the position closes to when an offer is made to a candidate.
