Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Business Systems Analyst with extensive experience in data warehousing to join our team. The candidate will be instrumental in analyzing and migrating our data systems to enhance our data capabilities and support our business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze Facts/Dimensions assigned to identify defects in the current Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) using advanced SQL query writing skills. (SSMS)
Participate in weekly established meetings to gather requirements from the Business and discuss known defects in the EDW and source system enhancements. Prepare weekly slide decks for clear communication to the business both orally and written. (PowerPoint)
Follow up with any leads provided by the business on necessary research or collaboration with data owners. (Write emails, Team conversations, schedule meetings, SSMS, Excel)
Write clear Business Requirements Documents (BRD) for Business sign-off. (Word)
Read the EDW STMs and create new EDP STMs for Raw to Enriched and Enriched to Curated. (Excel)
Perform peer reviews on the STMs and BRDs with strong attention to detail. (Word, Excel, Physical Data Models, DDL, DML)
Assist with backfill queries using advanced SQL skills. (DML)
Conduct validations and regression testing across multiple platforms. Proposed platforms include SSMS, Alteryx, Data Bricks, and Python.
Support the business with User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
Adapt quickly to changing requirements and timelines. (Flexibility and ease of adaptability)
Be proactive in asking questions to the business, development team, and analysts. (Must be able to say “I don’t know” and “I was wrong” in front of large audiences)
Work effectively in an environment where processes and frameworks are still being developed. (Must not shut down, quickly adapt to changing requirements, throw away work)
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s/master’s degree in data science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
Proven experience with data warehousing and SQL.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Proficient in the use of Excel and PowerPoint.
Experience in writing and reviewing business requirement documents and data mapping specifications.
Pay:
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Fractal, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is: TBD. In addition, for the current performance period, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
