About the role
The AI Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining AI‑driven systems that enhance Sigma Groups global event experiences, including major iGaming events. This role focuses on building intelligent features, integrating AI tooling across teams, and enabling the organisation to leverage artificial intelligence for improved customer engagement, operational efficiency, and product innovation.
The ideal candidate blends strong software engineering skills with deep knowledge of AI/ML technologies, automation, and data‑driven problem‑solving. They will play a key role in shaping the company’s AI strategy and delivering AI‑powered products and services.
Key Responsibilities
AI System Development & Integration
- Designs, builds, and deploys AI‑powered features across event platforms, mobile apps, exhibitor tools, and iGaming‑related systems.
- Implements AI models for use cases such as:
- personalised event recommendations
- predictive attendee behaviour
- automated content generation
- intelligent matchmaking between attendees and exhibitors
- real‑time event insights and anomaly detection
- Integrates AI capabilities into existing systems using APIs, cloud services, and custom pipelines.
AI Tooling & Automation
- Introduces AI‑assisted tools to improve productivity across engineering, marketing, operations, and customer support.
- Implements automation solutions such as:
- AI‑driven workflow optimisation
- automated tagging, summarisation, and content enhancement
- intelligent customer support chatbots
- AI‑assisted QA and testing tools
- Evaluates emerging AI platforms and tools to ensure the organisation stays ahead of industry trends.
Data Preparation & Model Support
- Collaborates with data engineers and data scientists to prepare datasets for training, validation, and inference.
- Builds and maintains pipelines that support real‑time and batch AI workloads.
- Ensures data quality, consistency, and compliance with privacy and regulatory requirements.
Events & iGaming AI Applications
- Develops AI solutions tailored to the unique dynamics of live events and iGaming audiences.
- Supports real‑time inference systems capable of handling high‑traffic spikes during major events.
- Builds AI features that enhance attendee engagement, exhibitor value, and partner insights.
Security, Compliance & Responsible AI
- Ensures AI systems follow responsible‑AI principles, including fairness, transparency, and explainability.
- Implements secure‑by‑design practices for all AI components.
- Ensures compliance with data‑privacy regulations and responsible‑gaming requirements where applicable.
Collaboration & Cross‑Functional Support
- Works closely with product managers, designers, engineers, and event teams to translate business needs into AI‑powered solutions.
- Communicates technical concepts clearly to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Supports internal teams in adopting AI tools and understanding AI‑driven insights.
Qualifications
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong proficiency in Python and AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit‑learn)
- Experience with cloud‑based AI platforms and APIs
- Understanding of data engineering, distributed systems, and real‑time processing
- Familiarity with AI‑assisted development tools and emerging AI technologies
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work effectively in cross‑functional teams
- Experience with event‑driven or iGaming data is a plus
Preferred Experience
- Educated to degree level in a numerate or technical discipline, Masters preferred.
- 5-7+ years of technical experience in AI engineering, machine learning, software engineering, or related fields
- 1-2+ years of management or mentorship experience, such as leading AI projects or guiding junior engineers
- Proven track record of delivering AI‑powered features or automation solutions
- Experience working with event data, digital engagement metrics, or iGaming systems
- Background in deploying AI models into production environments
- Experience with MLOps, CI/CD for AI, and scalable cloud architectures
